Friends, Please take a moment to read this article. Little fires become big fires -- we must all stay vigilant and fight racial injustice wherever and whenever it shows up. Standing strong, Karl Gentles
These days of upheaval and uncertainty remind me of a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who said:
“We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected today and all those who will be affected before this crisis subsides, the individuals that now have the Coronavirus and those exposed, small business owners who depend on the daily cash flow of clients/customers, healthcare workers, first responders and others on the front line taking care of the sick and shut in. The health and economic fallout will be felt for years to come. These are challenging times and while we will bounce back, it will take us all working together to defeat this invisible universal enemy that knows no boundaries. Now is the time to put politics aside and work together to curtail the spread of this virus and to protect the health and economic security of all Americans. Our campaign will implement all recommended measures to do our part to flatten the curve. We will follow the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and curtail voter contact, implement social distancing guidelines, and suspend all planned events and travel. We will increase our communication with you through email updates, social media and by phone to provide helpful information and resources where we can and continue discussing the issues important to all of us, never more so than now. We urge you all to adhere to the guidelines laid out by the CDC to keep yourselves and our community safe. Resources / How you can help:
- Take advantage of food takeout opportunities, including app-based delivery of food from locally owned restaurants.
- If you are a small business owner, the Small Business Administration is providing disaster assistance loans.
- Get informed on COVID-19 and create a plan for your household.
- Monitor the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Arizona Department of Health, and Maricopa County COVID-19 websites.
- Due to the recent school closings, many districts are providing FREE grab and go breakfast and lunch to kids 18 and younger. Get details about the school districts that are participating.
Together, we will get through this. Please reach out with questions or needs. Karl
In case you missed it, check out a short clip from last week's debate. Karl stood out from the pack by highlighting his record of getting things done for the economy, bringing jobs to the district and making a difference on education. Click on image below to watch video. For Karl, "principles over politics" means something. Duty, honor, and country above self means something. Hard work, transparency, and character means something. These are values Karl carries with him every day. He believes that you deserve someone that truly and actually represents you, the people of District 6. He has the experience required to get things done. Karl made it clear that our choice is between someone who has proven results and candidates who have proven they cannot win. We need a candidate that can win in November and make some real progress on the issues we all believe in. We believe Karl is the right leader at the right time for this district. We can trust him to always put principles over politics and political ambition. If you agree that Karl is the best candidate for our district, please contribute to our campaign today.
When I arrived in the northwest part of Congressional District 6 I was greeted by dirt, rattlesnakes and coyotes. In the 18 years that followed, I count myself blessed to have lived, worked and enjoyed our life and family in this stunningly beautiful part of Arizona. We built our home, built a business, and raised our family here. Along the way, I've delivered lasting results in economic development, job creation, and education. Over the course of my 34 years in Arizona, my deep community involvement and the ability to build strong partnerships and coalitions that deliver results makes me uniquely qualified to serve District 6 in the U.S. House of Representatives. There are times in our lives that we must take a stand, choose wisely, and do something to create the legacy we want for our kids and grandkids. This is such a time. Together, we will build a higher quality of life for this home we share. We will do it by fighting for education, job creation and economic development. With your trust and investment in me, we will advance the achievement of more students like the 250,000 we support through our nonprofit work at Back to School Clothing Drive. We will create more high paying jobs like the 3,000 we generated at USAA. We will create powerful economic engines, just like we did with the Norterra section of our district. We will continue to create prosperous economic development by inviting businesses to bring jobs and community investment to District 6. These are not just dreams. Together, we have the know-how to get it done and the right relationships that are indispensable to accomplishing these goals. I began my career working for two iconic, bi-partisan Arizona leaders. I erved as a media relations intern for Governor Bruce Babbitt’s presidential campaign, and later, as a staff assistant to a man we all remember and respect, the late Senator John McCain. Through them, I saw first-hand the impact strong leadership has on people’s lives. And you know what I learned? That it means something to place principles over politics. I learned the power of placing duty, honor, and country above self. I saw the results that are possible when you honor the values of hard work, transparency, and character. I carry those lessons with me to this day. I’ve been preparing to serve you, the people of Congressional District 6, for more than three decades. I choose principles over politics and political ambition. I have the experience it takes to get things done, here and in Washington, D.C. This is our home, and you deserve someone that truly and faithfully represents you, the people of Congressional District 6. My name is Karl Gentles and I ask you for your vote. If you agree with me that it's time we have a representative who places principles over politics, please contribute to my campaign today.
CD 6 candidate draws contrast, promises to put “principles over politics” (March 3, 2020) -- In the democratic debate for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District tonight, Karl Gentles stood out from the pack by touting his record of getting things done for the economy, bringing jobs to the district and making a difference on education. Gentles made the case that his profile and background make him a stronger candidate than his opponents. Gentles said, “Principles over politics means something. Duty, honor, and country above self mean something. Hard work, transparency, and character means something. These are values I carry with me to this day.” “This is our home; you deserve someone that truly and actually represents you, the people of District 6. I have the experience required to get things done. Your choice is clear between someone who has proven results and candidates who have proven they cannot win,” said Gentles. “We need a candidate that can win in November and make some real progress on the issues we all believe in. I believe I’m the right leader at the right time for this district. I’ll always put principles over politics and political ambition,” said Gentles. ###
Our campaign has just filed our finance report ahead of the deadline later this week. We're very happy to report that Team Gentles has raised $104,411 from almost 300 supporters since this campaign began in October.
Karl said, "I'm very proud of our fundraising success, and grateful for the support of the almost 300 people who’ve contributed to our effort. Campaigns are about ideas and not money, but this early success gives me confidence that we’ll be able to share our vision with voters throughout this election.”Here's what our campaign is all about:
- Protecting Arizona families’ ability to have a good life
- Fighting against policies designed to only benefit special interests
- Improving the education system
- Creating new pathways for people to enter the job market and the economy.
